
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial connected Thursday said that the authorities should consult the Supreme Court regarding the authorities related to the judiciary.
The apical judge’s remarks came during a proceeding of the petitions challenging the constitutionality of the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Act 2023, a instrumentality that aims to curtail the suo moto powers of the CJP.
An eight-member larger seat of the apex tribunal — headed by CJP Umar Ata Bandial and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Ayesha A Malik, Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Shahid Waheed — heard the petitions.
